Biology students took a brain break from DNA and RNA to complete a STEM challenge. Students were tasked to design and build the tallest tower using straws and an additional material (metal clips). The towers had to be self supporting. Students had to use problem solving and engineering skills to make a stable tower and to see who could build the highest.
Straw or concrete and metal, design and engineering challenges require students and engineers to exercise problem solving skills.

Mr Webb's Physical Science students worked with a lab partner to design a circuit and investigate which battery generated a stronger electrical charge. Small electronic clocks and LED light bulbs were used to test student observations and findings. Lastly, students completed a lab report demonstrating their understanding of the scientific method. It was an engaging STEM activity and everyone had fun!
