students building straw towers

Biology students took a brain break from DNA and RNA to complete a STEM challenge.  Students were tasked to design and build the tallest tower using straws and an additional material (metal clips).  The towers had to be self supporting.  Students had to use problem solving and engineering skills to make a stable tower and to see who could build the highest.

Straw or concrete and metal, design and engineering challenges require students and engineers to exercise problem solving skills.

Tallest tower was 41" tall!
